Home is a movie based on the 2007 children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex. It is rated PG for mild action and rude humour. Home revolves around two main characters, Oh, voiced by Rob Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), a lovable and klutzy alien, and Tip, a courageous young girl, voiced by award winning artist Rhianna.
Aliens known as the Boog come to earth in an attempt to hide from their enemies called the Gort. When the Boog arrive, they uproot the human population and move them away to camps while they take over the earth. Oh, in an attempt to make friends, sends an email to everyone in the universe, including the Gort, and becomes a fugitive. He and Tip then meet and come to a truce, in which Oh has offered to help Tip find her mother, who was abducted by the Boog. Throughout their journey to find Mom, Tip teaches Oh about kindness, love and compassion, which are qualities the Boog do not grasp.
Home is a clever new movie with outstanding animation. It is a story full of adventure and fun, as Tip exposes Oh to art, dancing, and pets. This is truly a film for children, teenagers, and adults alike.
