SCPA’s Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) has put together a district-wide drag show to showcase the talents of some of SCPA’s drag kings and queens on stage.

Every high school in the San Diego Unified School District is eligible to compete in the drag contest. From singing to lip syncing to comedy, the competitors will show off their talents, representing their schools for the titles of Teen Queen and Teen King. The event is intended to foster the growth of community and friendship between the queer youth of the district and to create a platform for drag.

The First Annual SCPA Drag Show will be hosted in SDSCPA’s Florence Johnson Grand Theater on May 6th from 3-5 PM. Admission is $8 for students and $10 for everybody else. It will feature drag performers from SCPA, San Diego High, and Crawford High. The event is intended to continue yearly and raise funds for SCPA’s GSA and community events for LGBT youth. The location will vary year by year.
